March 2016 Release Notes

The OT&E and Production environments are due to be updated with new features. Please see the list of improvements and added functionality below.

Registry Promotion Programs
The registry back-end has been updated to allow automatic tracking and application of rebate credits and marketing incentives of registry transactions (domain creates and renewals) that qualify for a rebate credit or marketing incentive.

Promotion terms and conditions can be found in the program requirements for each promotion as they are created and each promotion agreement will be made available to registrars in advance of the promotion start date.

  • For promotions with no program requirements the rebate credit or marketing incentive for all qualifying transactions will be applied to the registrar account at the end of the grace period.
  • For promotions with program requirements the rebate credit or marketing incentive will be applied after the promotion has finished and the verification of program requirements have been approved. All qualifying transactions must also have completed their respective grace periods.

Please note that rebate credit or marketing incentives will apply only to the first year of registration, even for a multi-year domain registration unless stated otherwise in specific promotion program terms and conditions. All qualifying originating promotion transactions will appear as individual rebate credit or marketing incentive transactions in reports and statements.

In the case that there are two or more promotion programs that are running simultaneously and the transaction falls under two or more promotions, the qualifying transaction will be applied to the promotion which grants the higher rebate credit or marketing incentive value.

Daily and Monthly Financial Transactions
Registry transactions that are included in a promotion will appear in the daily financial transactions report on the registrar web portal and will also be accessible through the API. This daily report is available under Reports | Registrar Reports | <year> | daily | daily-financial-transaction. The transaction report will include a line item for the rebate credit or marketing incentive given to each of the domains that were part of a promotion. The report will list the following information for a promotion program:

  • TLD - name of TLD
  • Object Name - name of domain
  • Object Type - domain
  • ROID - the ROID of the domain to which rebate credit or marketing incentive applies.
  • Server Transaction ID - unique server transaction ID of the rebate credit or marketing incentive transaction.
  • Timestamp - timestamp of when rebate credit or marketing incentive was given
  •  Action – description of action with the name of the promotion
  • Period – period for which rebate credit or marketing incentive was given
  • Amount - amount of the rebate credit or marketing incentive given to the domain (negative value)
The monthly transactions report is available under Reports | Registrar Reports | <year> | Finance.

Report Registry Promotion Program Reporting
A new report, for each promotion program, has been introduced and it is available in the registrar web portal. A separate report, per active promotion, is available under Reports | Registrar Reports | <year> | weekly | promotions folder. This report is generated weekly until the promotion ends. Each report will be emailed to each participating registrar’s Admin and Marketing notification contacts.
