January 2016 Release Notes

This release will not have any registrar impacting changes. The updates in this release are part of the ongoing enhancement of the registry. We would like to take this opportunity, however, to remind registrars of upcoming changes to TLS v 1.0 support.


TLS v 1.0 Support Reminder 

As communicated in our October Release notes, support for TLS v1.0 was discontinued for our OTE environment as part of our October scheduled maintenance. TLS v 1.0 is recognized as providing weaker protection than newer versions of this protocol (TLS v 1.1 and v 1.2). Registrars are advised to make sure their systems can successfully connect to our OT&E environment before we disable support for TLS v 1.0 in our production environment. Support for TLS v 1.0 is currently scheduled to be discontinued in the first quarter of this year.

Testing your connection in OT&E is imperative to ensure that you do not experience any interruption to your production connectivity in the future. We also strongly recommend that registrars ensure they are currently using TLS v1.1 or higher to connect to our production environment . Completing these measures will prevent any disruption to your connection when support for TLS v1.0  is discontinued for our Production environment.


Scheduled Maintenance 

These updates/changes will take effect during the Scheduled Maintenance as set forth below.

Maintenance Window: 22:00h - 23:30h UTC
Expected Duration: 90 minutes
 
Environment: Production
Date: Monday, January 18th, 2016
Maintenance Window: 22:00h - 23:30h UTC
Expected Duration: 90 minutes

We anticipate the maintenance to take 90 minutes with intermittent outages of the SRS and web portals during that time. All other registry services will continue to function normally. We aim to finish at the expected time but will notify you if there is any significant delay.

Notification emails will be sent when we start and complete the maintenance on our Production environment. These notifications will be addressed to your Admin and Tech notification contacts created on your Production account.
